This is a second article on Light for the Lost. If you have not done so, please first read the previous article on Light for the Lost. I want to provide information that will assist you in presenting a LFTL grant request in a manner that will be approved for possible funding from your Assemblies of God district Men’s Ministry.

Once again here are the items you can request LFTL funding for:

  1. Teen Challenge Group Studies for New Life in Christ Curriculum
  2. Teen Challenge Personal Studies for New Life in Christ Curriculum
  3. Living Free Curriculum
  4. Bibles
  5. Evangelistic Outreach Tracts
  6. Books that have a salvation message in them. You must provide specific reference information to the salvation message or a copy of the salvation message from the book when requesting funds for a particular book. Attach the information to the request.

Filling out the Application

  • You do not have to list each GSNL, PSNL, and Living Free study separately. When filling out the report, use one line for each of these categories.
  • If requesting Bibles, list the name of the particular Bible and cost per unit.
  • If requesting evangelistic materials please list the company or particular tract and total count you wish to purchase.
  • Any books you are requesting that do not fit into one of the first 5 categories must be listed by name.
    • Attached to the request, provide information on where the plan of salvation can be found in the book.

Figuring the amount of your request

Here is some information that I believe will help you in figuring the amount to request. For GSNL and PSNL you can review actual purchases from previous years to figure your request.

  • GSNL
    • Determine how many complete sets of GSNL (one set of each of the 14 studies) you will use in a particular year.
      • I used the number of student beds times 1.5 (to account for turnover). You can review student records and past curriculum use to determine a realistic count.
      • Multiply by $65 per set (includes shipping)

Example: 26 students x 1.5 = 39
39 x $65 = $2535

  • PSNL
    • Use the same formula only figure $41 (includes shipping) for a full set.
    • All other items
      • Figure at price per item including shipping costs

Example:

Part II: Projected Use of Funds
QuantityDescription of ResourcesAmountDate Needed
39GSNL  – full sets @ $65 each$2535
39PSNL  – Full sets @ $41 each$1599
20Fire Bibles @ $27 each$540
50Living Free Curriculum  @ $12 each$600

  $5434

Making a Light for the Lost connection

Each Assembly of God district office has a Men’s Ministry director and a LFTL representative. Often this is one person.

Connecting with your LFLT rep:

  • Get to know your LFTL rep.
  • Meet with him personally and share the vision of your ministry.
  • Invite him to visit or speak at your center so that he can see the ministry in action.
  • Show him the classroom and the curriculum that LFTL purchases.
  • Have a student share with him how the curriculum has impacted him.
  • Send him student testimonies and curriculum stories from time to time.
  • Offer to help with LFTL fundraising dinners by having the students serve or even host a dinner at your center if possible.

The Assemblies of God Men’s Ministry and Light for the Lost have been and continue to be a blessing to the Teen Challenge ministry. They believe in and love Teen Challenge. Be sure and thank them for everything they have done!
