God’s plan A is the Body of Christ.  We were not meant to do this alone. We were not meant to walk a lonely Christian life. We were not meant to be a one man ministry. This whole Christian life and ministry thing is to be a team thing!

The theme for this year’s regional conferences is: Connect to Each Other: Together We Are Stronger. For healthy TC ministry we must have a healthy TC staff team. It is foundational to effective ministry.

Did you ever notice that the Lord’s Prayer does not use “I”, “me”, or “my”, but rather, “us” and “we”? “Give us our daily bread…Lead us not into temptation.” As you read the following scriptures notice that nourishment, growth and healing take place within the context of the Body of Christ. Together we are stronger!

Colossians 2:19
and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

Ephesians 4:15-16
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 2:19-22
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
To facilitate this scripture reveals several things that we are to do for each other within the body of Christ. The “One for another” passages tell us to:

  • Pray for one another  – James 5:16
  • Serve one another   – 1Peter 4:10. Gal 5:13
  • Love one another 1  – John 4:7
  • Encourage one another  – 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 10:25
  • Forgive one another Colossians  – 3:13
  • Honor one another Hebrews  – 10:24
  • Bear the burdens of one another  – Galatians 6:2
  • Live in humble harmony with one another  – Romans 12:16

Think about it

  • Do we have a healthy TC team?
  • Look at the “One for another” list and choose one area to focus on.
  • What one thing can we do today, in the context of the chosen focus area, to have a healthier ministry team?
  • Do I have an “I don’t need anyone: I can do this on my own,” attitude?
  • Do I personally have healthy Christian relationships?
  • What one step can I take today to develop healthier godly relationships?
