In honor of Frank Reynolds’ 90th birthday, celebrated this past Sunday, I want to take the opportunity to share one more brief section from Frank’s book, Is there a God? (pp. 101-102).

But God would continue to bring to my attention four simple lessons that had become my code and philosophy learned in following the will of God:

1. There are no upward or downward steps in the will of God.
2. I must have my time alone with Him — personal devotions each day — or I cannot clearly hear His voice.
3. There is no discouragement in the center of God’s will.
4. Mind your own business. As the scripture tells us, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” In other words, don’t look at other ministries or try to prove something to everyone else. Just do whatever the Lord asks you to do — with all your might (Matt. 6:33).

The verse in 2 Timothy 2:1-2 continued to roll over in my thoughts. “You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable men who will be qualified to teach others.”

Think about it…

Take time to discuss your personal reflections on these four point with your fellow TC staff members. Do you have similar core value statements or statements of faith to guide you when you find following God to be difficult? If not, develop them, write them out and post them in a place that will encourage and challenge you often.
