LFTL has one guiding principle: all Light for the Lost (LFTL) funding is to provide resources directly related to evangelism.
How to apply for funds
Each Teen Challenge Center must submit an application for curriculum or for evangelism resources to Assemblies of God US Missions Finance. Applications must be submitted by the following quarterly deadlines:
- Quarter 1: February 15th
- Quarter 2: May 15th
- Quarter 3: August 15th
- Quarter 4: November 15th
Any application received after the deadline will be held until the next LFTL/AGUSM (Light for the Lost/Assemblies of God U.S. Missions) steering committee meeting.
How Applications are Processed
Prior to each LFTL/AGUSM steering committee meeting, the designated Adult & Teen Challenge USA staff member will screen each application. ATCUSA will then forward the application to the LFTL/AGUSM steering committee.
Applications that are approved through the steering committee will be sent to your A/G district office for final review and funding. The district then determines the funds committed from said district, signed by the appropriate district director as designated by the district superintendent.
Approval of the application does not guarantee the receipt of funds; it is contingent upon the availability of funds from your AG district.
How Teen Challenge Centers are notified
The Teen Challenge center making application will receive written notification from AGUSM of Steering committee decisions.
How funds are raised
Information concerning each approved project including the Teen Challenge center name will be supplied to each A/G district office.
How funds are disbursed
As funds are raised by the districts they will be transferred from the LFTL account into the appropriate account. Funds will be released for the Teen Challenge center only on evidence that the center will be using the funds in a timely and appropriate manner as required by AGUSM policy. All previous special disbursement reports must be current and up to date.
Guidelines and Recommendations for Application of Light for the Lost Funds
- Complete the “Part I: Applicant Data” section of the form. Be sure to include the name of the person filling out the application – in case there are any questions.
- Complete the “Part II: Projected Use of Funds” section. Under “Description of Resources” list only the curriculum category you will need money for and the amount you will need for the coming year. Money will not be released for unapproved items. Approved categories are:
- GSNL curriculum
- PSNL curriculum
- Living Free Curriculum

- All books that you which to have funded by LFTL must include a plan of salvation.
- On a separate sheet of paper list:
- The name of each book
- The year the book was published
- The page number(s) where the plan of salvation can be found
- On a separate sheet of paper list:
- Bibles
When you purchase or place an order for specific items using LFTL funds, your purchase must be for the same categories approved in the original application.
- Funding will only be approved for these categories.
- Mail or fax the completed application as indicated on the application.
Recommendation: Plan and work ahead – Place your order 3 to 6 months before you will actually need the material. This will allow time for approval process and time for your AG district to raise the money. - The application will be forwarded to the Adult & Teen Challenge National Office to ensure that the center making application is compliant with accreditation standards and is current with all fees, and payments.
- Then the application will be sent to the LFTL/AGUSM steering committee for approval.
- You and your A/G district will be notified.
Recommendation: Get to know your district LFTL representative. Offer to work with him and assist with Light for the Lost fund raising events. - The A/G district will raise the funds. When the funds are raised they will transfer them to the LFTL national office. Your request will then be funded.
Remember: Approval of the application does not guarantee the receipt of funds: it is contingent upon the availability of funds though your AG district. - SDR Reports
If any LFTL funds are sent directly to your center you will receive an SDR (Special Disbursement Report) from the Assemblies of God US Mission Dept. This report is to show that all LFTL funds that you received were spent as designated. You will need to fill out the SDR report, attach receipts and return to the Adult & Teen Challenge National Office within 30 days.
Failure to return SDR reports will result in the delay or denial of future funding requests.
