A key component of a quality PSNL contract are the lessons. Lessons are curriculum that has questions that promote and investigate the students understanding, reflection and application. At present, ATCUSA only provides a limited number of lessons; these include 100, 200, 300 and 400 studies. Therefore, it is necessary to build your own PSNL Lesson library. It will take time, research and finances to develop a broad library of lesson resources.

When determining lesson resources, it is important to remember that the key identifying characteristic of a good lesson resource is good questions! Questions provided in a lesson should be thought provoking and should stimulate personal reflection, understanding and application. Keep that in mind when researching options and building your library.

I will share with you some ideas that I and others have used. All of these and more are listed here.

Specific Resource Ideas

  • Life in Christ is one of my favorite resources. I assigned different chapters for different contracts and by the time a student was several months into the program he had completed the entire workbook. This resource is available at discounted prices for your ministry. Call for pricing.
  • Self-Confrontation This 24-lesson manual will help the student learn how the Bible is sufficient and applicable to produce lasting victory in every circumstance and relationship.
  • Living Free Curriculum covers many subjects that are relevant to our student’s needs.

Book/Workbook Sets

Some books come with a workbook that is a great fit for the lessons component of a contract. In other words, you can assign the book for the reading portion of the contract and the workbook for the lessons portion of the contract. Book/workbook combinations really help to create a cohesive contract.

Here are a few examples of book/workbook pairings that I liked to use:

Global Youth Evangelism

Some centers like to use the materials from Global Youth Evangelism. These materials are inexpensive to purchase and there are many different studies. However, they do not include personal evaluation type questions. If you choose to use these materials, I encourage you to add a few questions at the end of each lesson that cause students to reflect and explain what they have learned and explain how they will apply it to their lives. Don’t settle for short answers. Make them reflect.

Shopping for Resources

Christianbook.com is a great place to search for studies – PSNL lesson ideas. Type in your search topic and click “search” and then on the left column you can refine the search to only show “Bible Studies & Curriculum” that deal with that specific topic. Once I find a study I like and use a lot, I would buy 10 – 20 copies at a time to keep a supply available.

Visit your local Christian Bookstore and take time to research the studies that are available.
